Baton Rouge, La.-based Coastal Environments Inc. and U.K.-based Wessex Archaeology Ventures Ltd. recently entered into an agreement to create CEWA Inc., a jointly owned company focused on the U.S. offshore renewables market.

Headquartered in Baton Rouge, the new venture includes both U.S. and U.K. expertise. Wessex Archaeology will contribute technical knowledge and 17 years of marine archaeological experience in the North Sea, where the organization has supplied services for over 90% of all the U.K.’s offshore wind farm developments. Coastal Environments, which will provide its understanding of the U.S. marine market, has a record of BOEM-compliant marine archaeological submissions in support of offshore development.

“We are pleased to announce this new venture for Coastal Environments Inc., which will build on our existing experience and relationships in the U.S. offshore market,” states Mark Gagliano, president of Coastal Environments and CEWA. “It will also provide new and existing clients with access to the expertise and capacity they need to meet the challenging targets presented by the current offshore wind development program.”

“This partnership marks the start of an exciting chapter for our organizations within a growing global market,” adds Dr. Ian Selby, chairman of Wessex Archaeology and CEWA.
