ClassNK has awarded an approval-in-principle (AiP) for the design of a multi-functional floating offshore wind farm support vessel (MFSV).
The vessel was developed by “K” Line Wind Service, a joint venture between Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Kawasaki Kinkai Kisen Kaisha, Japan Marine United Corporation and Nihon Shipyard.
The company says the MFSV is designed to perform whole mooring works for floating offshore turbine installation, including mooring system transport, mooring system seabed deployment and anchor tensioning. It adds that the vessel also features a multi-functional solutions concept for different project phases.
