Northern Lights College will build and install a wind tower on its Dawson Creek, British Columbia-based campus to train the next generation of wind technicians, thanks to a C$225,000 investment from the Harper Government's Western Economic Diversification (WD) program.
According to Northern Lights College, the wind turbine tower will allow students access to the necessary training to attain the certification that is required by most wind turbine companies.
‘As BC's energy college, Northern Lights College is proud to deliver the province's only BZEE-certified Wind Turbine Maintenance program,’ said Laurie Rancourt, president and CEO.
Since 2006, the Harper Government, through WD, has invested in job-creating small-and mid-sized businesses, aerospace, marine and defense industries, and supported innovative entrepreneurs in pursuing emerging markets.
