At the start of last month, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) published a Notice of Availability of a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for Commercial Wind Lease Issuance in two Wind Energy Areas (WEAs) designated off the coast of Oregon.
Along with the notice, the bureau also publicized a 30-day comment period to solicit public input. In response to feedback from Oregon Tribes and stakeholders, BOEM has decided to extend the comment period on these areas, through June 14.
BOEM also announced an additional virtual public meeting on the Draft EA on June 5.
The draft EA considers the environmental consequences associated with issuing commercial wind leases in the WEAs, as well as associated site characterization activities and site assessment activities offshore Oregon.
