Bluegrass Festival To Be Powered By Wind Energy

For the 11th consecutive year, Colorado-based Renewable Choice Energy has announced it will provide clean energy in the form of wind power and carbon offsets to the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, which will take place June 20-23.

Renewable Choice Energy says the festival will purchase wind power through renewable energy credits (RECs) and verified carbon-emission reductions to offset 100% of the emissions created by the festival, including attendee and artist travel.

Steve Szymanski – vice president of Planet Bluegrass, parent company of the Telluride Festival – says the purchases are part of a continuing effort to reduce energy consumption and emissions at its events.

"At Planet Bluegrass, we've been committed to reducing the effects of our festivals on the environment wherever possible, and Renewable Choice has helped us understand and tackle our carbon impact along the way – it's been a tremendous partnership," notes Szymanski.
