Beam, a provider of AI-driven technology services for offshore wind, has unveiled its latest innovation, the SubSLAM X3.
The underwater perception system is aimed at monitoring and maintaining offshore wind farms by providing real-time 3D mapping to enhance underwater operations.
The SubSLAM X3 integrates AI, robotics and localisation and mapping technology, which the company says accelerates the development, construction and maintenance of offshore wind projects. It adds that the system’s V3.0 software version boosts navigational assistance for operators working in difficult underwater terrains and has improved integration with third-party sensors such as sonar fusion.
“This system not only enhances our capabilities in terms of data collection and asset inspection, but it also significantly reduces the operational footprint required for such activities,” says Ross Hilditch, senior product manager at Beam. “It’s about doing more with less, safely and sustainably.”
