Alliant Energy subsidiary Franklin County Wind LLC (FCW) is accepting proposals to purchase energy and the associated capacity and renewable energy credits from the Franklin County Wind Farm, a 99 MW facility located in Iowa.
The project, which is expected to enter commercial operation by December 2012, is located on 18,000 acres of farmland in north central Iowa, immediately adjacent in the Whispering Willow-East wind farm, which is owned by Interstate Power and Light Co., a utility subsidiary of Alliant.
Wetland delineation, avian studies and CORPS permit filings are complete, Alliant says, and wind analysis – as well as electrical, civil and design engineering – are complete. The project will initially have a provisional transmission interconnection.
A minimum increment of five years for the PPA is preferred, but shorter terms may be considered, the utility says. Terms should begin around Jan. 1, 2013.
Bids are due Jan. 16, 2012, at 5:00 p.m. CST.
