17 Energy and SC Power have unveiled the Viento Azul Biobío Consortium, aimed at developing Chile’s offshore wind industry.
The consortium seeks to support large-scale decarbonization of the country’s electricity network. Last month, the collaboration hosted government officials, industry leaders and community representatives at a launch event in Concepción to discuss offshore wind’s potential and the consortium’s possible role in realizing it.
“This is a pivotal moment for Chile’s energy future,” says Daniel Perdomo, director at 17 Energy.
“The Viento Azul Biobío Consortium is committed to building a strong, sustainable offshore wind industry that creates jobs, drives economic growth and protects our environment. Today we are taking our first steps in our journey to realizing offshore wind in Chile.”
