Seattle-based DNV Global Energy Concepts (DNV-GEC) and Somerville, Mass.-based Second Wind have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to work together on improving and expanding the use of Second Wind's Triton Sonic Wind Profiler units.

‘We're delighted that a highly respected global consultant like DNV-GEC will be offering the Triton to its clients,’ says Walter Sass, CEO of Second Wind. ‘We have been very pleased with the data quality Triton has provided throughout beta testing, and at the enthusiastic response from our early customers. This agreement with DNV-GEC provides an important channel for bringing Triton's benefits to the wind industry.’

DNV-GEC will offer Triton sodar technology for sale to its customers, along with meteorological towers and other data collection systems, to perform turnkey wind assessment and site selection services. For wind prospectors or developers who already own a Triton profiler, DNV-GEC will analyze the data and incorporate it into its reports and consulting recommendations.

Both companies will collaborate to develop data validation tools for Triton data, and to continue to improve the quality of Triton measurements.

"Working with Second Wind, we will be able to offer seamless management of the Triton system throughout the entire resource assessment process, from installation and monitoring through to data analysis and reporting," says Gordon Randall, DNV-GEC's senior technical advisor.
