EDF EN Canada Inc. says it has obtained authorization from the government of Quebec allowing the construction and operation of the 150 MW Massif du Sud wind project, which is located in the municipalities of Saint-Luc-de-Bellechasse and Saint-Magloire.

With an investment of almost C$350 million, the project is expected to create about 200 jobs during the construction phase, and eight to 10 permanent operations and maintenance jobs.

Turbine manufacturer REpower will supply 75 wind turbines rated at 2 MW each, with a significant amount of content manufactured locally, according to EDF EN Canada. LM Wind Power will supply the blades from its Gaspe plant, the towers will be produced at Marmen's Matane and Trois-Rivieres plants and SEG Woodward will assemble the electrical converters in New Richmond.
