Late last month, piles built by Smulders set to anchor the offshore substation jacket to the seabed for TenneT’s Hollandse Kust (west Beta) wind farm were loaded out in Vlissingen, Netherlands.
A few days later, on April 30, the 2,300-ton jacket was transferred to the pontoon as well, marking the first large-scale project Smulders built at its Vlissingen yard.
Hollandse Kust (west Beta) is the third and final offshore substation Smulders and Equans are constructing for TenneT. The substation topside is under construction at the Equans yard in Hoboken.
