SCPPA To Sell Bonds To Purchase Wind Power

Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA), a joint powers authority that has 12 public power agency members, plans to sell $533 million of municipal bonds in order to purchase wind power, Bloomberg reports.

The proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase power from the Windy Point/Windy Flats Project, a 114-turbine, 500 MW wind project along the Columbia River in Washington state.

SCPPA is purchasing the electricity on behalf of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the city of Glendale.
