The Muskegon County Board of Commissioners is preparing for an eventual request for proposals (RFP) for a large industrial wind energy project for the Muskegon County Wastewater Management System (MCWMS).
MCWMS is seeking a statement of qualifications for providing consulting/engineering services sufficient to enable and facilitate the solicitation of a developer for the project.
The consulting/engineering services firm will develop a set of specifications for an 80 MW to 150 MW wind project, which will then be presented as an RFP that will be distributed through the Muskegon County Purchasing Department. The consulting/engineering services firm will also administer the RFP evaluation process to facilitate selection of a developer by MCWMS.
The wind turbine projects will be located on the property of the MCWMS, which sits on approximately 11,000 acres of contiguous land area about 15 miles to the east of Lake Michigan. MCWMS is in the process of studying the wind profile data at the site with the help of a sonic detection and ranging unit, which has been in operation since April.
Proposal request forms are available on the Muskegon County Purchasing website at co.muskegon.mi.us or at the Muskegon County Purchasing Office. Proposals are due in the purchasing office no later than 3 p.m., Sept. 30. No late proposals will be accepted.
