0

On Nov. 26, a fire was reported at the nacelle of a Gamesa G80-2 MW turbine at Enel Green Power's (EGP) Stipa Nayaa wind farm in Oaxaco, Mexico. Gamesa completed construction and development of the 74 MW facility, formerly known as Bii Nee Stipa II, for Enel last year and serves as the wind farm's operations and maintenance (O&M) provider.

‘An Enel Green Power team rushed to the site for supervision of emergency procedures immediately after the incident was reported by the O&M services contractor that was performing works on site,’ an EGP spokesperson tells NAW, adding that no one was injured. The spokesperson says the fire was promptly extinguished, and the rest of the wind farm is up and running.

No root cause has yet been identified. A Gamesa spokesperson explains, "The investigation is expected to take weeks, and Gamesa is working closely with Enel â¦ to determine the cause of the fire.’ The EGP spokesperson notes that no criminal investigation has been launched by the judicial authorities.
