Constellation Energy supplied Green-e Energy renewable energy certificates (RECs) from wind energy facilities in the U.S. to match 100% of the electricity used at the Rhode Island Manufacturers Association's (RIMA) ninth annual fundraising gala.
The RECs donated for the gala will result in approximately 2,235 pounds of avoided carbon dioxide emissions due to the displacement of grid electricity generation by renewable energy, according to Constellation Energy.
More than 300 members of the manufacturing industry and other organizations throughout Rhode Island attended the event. In addition to utilizing RECs to support the annual gala, the RIMA has held seminars to educate members on the benefits of load-response programs that can compensate electricity users for conserving energy during times of peak demand.
