A Michigan-based religious order that represents 600 Dominican sisters has committed to matching its electricity use with 100% renewable sources.

Specifically, the Adrian Dominican Sisters are taking part in Consumers Energy’s Green Generation program, which matches electricity use with clean energy that is generated in Michigan.

“We’re thrilled the Adrian Dominican Sisters are becoming a leader in our Green Generation program, which highlights the commitment they share with Consumers Energy to leave the planet better than we found it,” states Lauren Youngdahl Snyder, Consumers Energy’s vice president of customer experience.

“We are excited for the opportunity to subscribe to Green e-certified renewable energy for our Motherhouse campus and adjacent residences,” adds Sister Corinne Sanders, Adrian Dominican Sisters’ director of sustainability. “Participating in this program is one more step in reaching our goal of reducing fossil fuel use by 30 percent by 2022.”

Nearly 20,000 homes and businesses participate in Green Generation, supporting renewable energy in Michigan.
