Woodlot Alternatives, a Topsham, Maine-based consulting firm specializing in natural resource assessment, permitting and environmental engineering, has joined Stantec, a design and consulting services firm that provides assistance with planning, engineering, architecture, surveying, economics and project management.

Woodlot has focused on the wind, liquefied natural gas and natural gas energy sectors for the last several years, conducting natural resource investigations, impact assessments and environmental permitting, the company notes. In the past five years, Woodlot has completed studies at over 60 proposed wind farm sites.

‘We've expanded our reach in Maine and New England significantly this year,’ says Tony Franceschini, president and CEO of Stantec. ‘The addition of Woodlot further strengthens our presence in this region and enhances the services we offer our clients, particularly in the area of wind power.’

John P. Lortie, president of Woodlot, will continue with Stantec as a vice president.
