AWS Truepower LLC, a provider of renewable energy consulting and information services, has released high-resolution wind maps and data for the Caribbean, Central America, Mexico and South America in order to support wind project development in these rapidly expanding renewable energy markets.

Wind resource averages and characteristics are available through annual subscriptions to AWS Truepower's Web-based platform, the Wind Site Assessment dashboard. Designed to provide wind developers with 24/7 access to high-resolution wind data, dashboard subscribers can conduct regional prospecting, prioritize development opportunities, and analyze preliminary energy production for over 200 turbine models with site-specific reports.

Industry reports indicate that up to 2 GW of wind power capacity may be built in South America this year. In 2011, Brazil's installed wind energy capacity totaled just over 1.5 GW.
