Milwaukee-based We Energies' Blue Sky Green Field wind project, located in the towns of Calumet and Marshfield, Wis., has begun commercial operations. At a cost of approximately $300 million, the Blue Sky Green Field project is composed of 88 Vestas Wind Systems turbines with a demonstrated capacity of 145 MW.
‘While the Blue Sky Green Field project is an important contributor to our renewable goals, We Energies will need to add several more renewable projects to meet the state mandate,’ says Rick Kuester, executive vice president of Wisconsin Energy Corp., the parent company of We Energies.
Although the turbines are now in operation, We Energies will be working with the landowners in the area to ensure that proper restoration from construction activity is completed.
