Walney Sells Offshore Wind Farm’s Transmission Assets

0

Walney Windfarms Ltd. says it has completed the sale of the transmission assets of the Walney 1 offshore wind farm to Blue Transmission Walney 1 Ltd. – which is the licensee entity incorporated by the consortium of Macquarie Capital Group Ltd. and Barclays Integrated Infrastructure Fund – for approximately 105 million British pounds.

DONG Energy, Scottish and Southern Energy and OPW, a company jointly owned by Dutch pension administrator PGGM and Ampere Equity Fund (managed by Triodos Investment Management), are the companies behind Walney Windfarms Ltd. DONG Energy is the leading partner in the construction and operational phases of the Walney offshore wind farms.

In addition, DONG Energy and Blue Transmission Walney 1 Ltd. have agreed on an operations and maintenance contract for the transmission assets. The disposal is in line with a regulation requiring offshore wind farm generators to divest their transmission assets to new offshore transmission owners via a competitive tender run by Ofgem, the companies explain.
