Danish turbine manufacturer Vestas has received an order for 44 wind turbines to be delivered to a wind project in the U.S. The order consists of the supply and commissioning of the turbines and a five-year service and maintenance agreement. Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2009, with commissioning planned for the second half of 2010. At the customer's request, details about project ownership and exact location cannot be disclosed.

‘The U.S. boasts excellent wind resources, and Vestas is pleased to be playing an active role in the utilization of its wind potential,’ says Jens Soby, president of Vestas. ‘Not only will the 44 wind turbines be a source of clean and renewable energy, they will also contribute to the creation of new local jobs.’
