As part of an effort to streamline fulfillment operations, turbine manufacturer Vestas says it will close 22 warehouses and outsource fulfillment to logistics provider DB Schenker.

According to Vestas, warehouse operations will originate from a single central warehouse in Germany with support from three warehouses in Romania, Spain and Sweden.

In addition, approximately 75 emergency stock locations will be established throughout the Europe and Middle East region to secure two-to-three hour service for turbine spare part orders.

Vestas says outsourcing its spare part operations enables it to convert fixed costs into variable costs and create a more scalable and flexible operation for customers.
