Vattenfall's board of directors has given the green light to spend 150 million British pounds on the 49.5 MW Kentish Flats Extension.
The 15-turbine project will be built next to the company's existing 90 MW Kentish Flats Offshore Wind Farm, located off the coast of Kent, England. According to Vattenfall, the U.K. Energy Secretary consented the project extension last year.
"Vattenfall's decision to invest in Kentish Flats Extension is the final hurdle that needs to be cleared before construction can start in 2015," explains Vattenfall's Matthew Green. "It's good to get that and I'm looking forward to leading the construction team over the next two-and-a-half years. We will now complete a period of intense detailed engineering and planning for the construction phase in 2015."
