Scotian Wind and its development partners recently completed a 6 MW wind project near Hardwood Lands, Nova Scotia – the last of four community feed-in tariff projects installed by Scotian Wind in 2016.

SWEB Development LP says the Hardwood Lands Community Wind Project, comprising three Vestas V100 turbines, will produce enough power for the equivalent of more than 1,800 Nova Scotian homes. All power is connected to the local electrical distribution network in Elsmdale.

SWEB Development says the project, which has a power purchase agreement with Nova Scotia Power, will be connected to the grid over the next several weeks.

“This installation at Hardwood Lands signals the end of a successful 2016 for us, with four new projects standing in communities across Nova Scotia,” states Dan Roscoe, SWEB Development’s chief operating officer. “These four projects bring our total to 12 community-scale wind installations aggregating to a total of 20 wind turbines across the province. We have been especially heartened by the response from the surrounding communities in East Hants from Sipekne’katik to Shubenacadie.”
