Suzlon Wind Energy Corp. has signed with Edison Mission Group (EMG) for an additional 105 MW of capacity, which includes 50 units of Suzlon's S88 2.1-MW wind turbine.

Delivery of the wind turbines is expected to begin in mid-2007, and upon completion of the projects, EMG will hold more than 300 MW of Suzlon wind turbine capacity in the U.S. This new order from Irvine, Calif.-based EMG adds to the 75 Suzlon turbines being installed across the U.S., as well as 2005 agreements between EMG and Suzlon for machines already installed.

‘Suzlon is truly pleased that Edison Mission Group has chosen to extend its current contract for the S88 wind turbine,’ says Andris Cukurs, CEO of Suzlon Wind Energy Corp., based in Chicago. ‘Suzlon continues to play an important role in Edison Mission Group's rapid expansion in the wind energy business,’ says Randy Mann, managing director of development for EMG. ‘We are pleased to build on our existing relationship with this new agreement.’
