Suzlon Group has won a 50.4 MW order from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia-based Alfanar Energy. The deal represents Alfanar’s first renewable energy project in India and its first contract with Suzlon.

Suzlon will supply 24 units of its S111-90m wind turbine generators, each with a rated capacity of 2.1 MW. The S11X 2.1 MW platform features Suzlon’s doubly fed induction generator technology, which is designed to optimally harness available wind resources.

The project will be completed by March 2018. Suzlon will execute the entire wind farm on a turnkey basis, including operations and maintenance services.

Suzlon says Alfanar Energy, a fully owned subsidiary of the Alfanar Group, has set ambitious targets for the Indian market as an independent power producer and developer.

“We welcome Alfanar Energy to India and into our customer family,” says J.P. Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group.
