Toronto-headquartered SkyPower Corp., a renewable energy project developer, and Manitoba-based Mossey River Energy, a privately held partnership representing a consortium of local landowners, have created the Parkland Wind Community Program and the Parkland Wind Power Foundation.
The Parkland Wind Community Program was designed to share the economic benefits of wind power in the Parkland region of Manitoba with a broad range of constituents in the community, the companies say. The program consists primarily of three philanthropic initiatives: an educational grants and scholarship program, a regional community grants program, and an equity sharing program that economically supports nonprofit and charitable providers of environmental and educational services.
The Parkland Wind Power Foundation was formed to facilitate the Parkland Wind Community Program, the companies add. Members of the board of the foundation will consist of Parkland region representatives and project partners.
