Siemens has won a 582 MW order from DONG Energy to supply two German offshore wind farms.

Under the agreement, Siemens will provide 97 of its new 6 MW wind turbines, each with a rotor diameter of 154 meters. The Gode Wind 1 (252 MW) and Gode Wind 2 (330 MW) wind power plants will be erected off the North Sea island of Juist.

Siemens will also service the wind turbines for a period of five years. Construction is planned to begin in the first half of 2015, with commissioning scheduled for the second half of 2016.

To date, Siemens says it has installed wind turbines with a total capacity of 3.9 GW at sea worldwide. The company adds that it currently has about 5 GW of offshore wind orders in the books.
