Siemens says it has received an order from New Zealand-based TrustPower for a total of 90 wind turbines with a combined capacity of 270 MW for the Snowtown II Wind Farm in Australia.

The scope of supply encompasses the delivery, installation and commissioning of 90 gearless SWT-3.0 MW wind turbines. Siemens' service team will maintain the wind turbines under a long-term service agreement. Installation of the wind turbines is scheduled to begin in 2013, and the commissioning of the wind farm is planned for 2014.

The Snowtown II Wind Farm will be located approximately 140 km north of Adelaide in southern Australia. Once completed, it will be one of the largest wind projects in Australia and will power the equivalent of up to 180,000 average households in the region, according to Siemens.
