Siemens has won a deal from NJR Clean Energy Ventures to provide turbines for the approximately 21 MW Carroll wind power project in Iowa.

Siemens plans to begin installing the project's nine SWT-2.3-108 turbines in October, with commissioning scheduled for early 2015. The contract also includes a service and maintenance agreement.

Siemens says its SWT-2.3-108 turbine features 108-meter rotors and offers enhanced reliability and productivity in low to moderate wind speeds. The company also notes it will produce the major wind turbine components at its production facilities in the U.S.

‘All of the blades will be manufactured at our nearby Fort Madison, Iowa, facility, and all nacelles and hubs for this project will be assembled at our factory in Hutchinson, Kansas," exlains Mark Albenze, CEO of Siemens Energy's Wind Power Onshore Americas business. "This order is further evidence that the federal production tax credit continues to boost new economic investment in the U.S. and encourages development of proven renewable energy projects.’
