Siemens reports it has received a 30 MW order to repower the Bassens I community wind farm, located in Germany.
Under the agreement, Siemens will supply, install and commission 10 of its SWT-3.0-113 gearless wind turbines. The wind farm, which was built in 1997, currently features 34 600 kW machines and has an installed capacity of 24.2 MW.
Wind turbine installation is scheduled to begin later this year, with commissioning slated for the coming winter. Siemens will also be responsible for maintenance of the equipment over a period of 15 years.
