Siem Offshore Contractors GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Siem Offshore Inc., says it has been awarded a contract by Amrumbank West GmbH, a subsidiary of E.ON Climate & Renewables Central Europe GmbH, for the installation of the inner array grid cables, as well as associated services, for the Amrumbank West Offshore Wind Farm.

The contract marks Siem Offshore group's entry into the offshore renewable energy market.

The offshore wind farm will be situated within the German Bight sector of the North Sea, north of the island of Helgoland and west of the island of Amrum, and will consist of 80 3.6 MW wind turbines. The project will be interconnected by an inner array grid of 33 kV medium-voltage cables with a total length of up to 86 km.

In addition to the submarine cable installation, Siem Offshore also will provide associated services, including the marine cable route survey and engineering, route clearance operation and post-installation termination and testing works. The submarine cable installation work is scheduled for mid-2014.
