SgurrEnergy Assists With Chinese Offshore Wind Rollout SgurrEnergy has been tapped by Chinese renewable energy company Huaneng Renewables Corp. to investigate site conditions of offshore wind projects in China.

According to SgurrEnergy, the research will be conducted in partnership with Beijing-based Tsinghua University. The study will explore wake-model parameters aiming to improve wake-model performance during the pre-construction assessment phase of wind farm projects and examine site conditions and their impacts on wind turbine performance and availability. The results of the research will allow developers to choose more suitable site locations and, as a result, improve overall wind farm performance.

Coinciding with the Chinese government's acceleration of offshore wind development in December 2014, SgurrEnergy was hired by Huaneng to assess submarine topography and geological conditions, wind farm generator capacity and site accessibility issues.
