Seven Arrested During Construction Of Lowell Mountain Wind Project

A small group of Vermont protesters blocked construction-related work for an hour on a 21-turbine project being developed by Green Mountain Power.

Steve Wright, a supporter of the protesters, said seven people were arrested on Dec. 5. He says the group believes the ownership of the land is in dispute, and further development of the Lowell Mountain project will mar the ridgeline without offering any significant benefit to the environment.

According to a release issued by Wright, charges are pending for those arrested, and when asked to identify themselves, they said they were known as ‘Green Mountain people.'
