Seattle City Light Puts Out RFP For Renewables

0

Seattle City Light has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for energy and renewable energy credits of up to 150,000 MWh annually, beginning in 2020.

Under the RFP, Seattle City Light says it will consider a broad range of proposals, technologies and contractual arrangements. The utility will require potential providers to demonstrate they have the creditworthiness to develop the projects offered and deliver the electrical energy and/or renewable energy credits over the indicated contract length.

The company is purchasing the energy as part of compliance with Washington's renewable portfolio standard. Seattle City Light says it prefers base-load or dispatchable resources to complement existing resources which are predominately hydroelectric.

The utility says proposals will be evaluated on cost and other factors and must qualify under the Washington renewable portfolio standard, approved by voters in 2006 as Initiative 937.
