Seeking to expand its seafaring crew, U.K.-based offshore wind transfer vessel operator Seacat Services has started maritime training for 12 deckhands.

According to Seacat, the apprentices will work toward a Level 2 Diploma in Maritime Studies, with the aim of achieving a Certificate of Competence after further training at sea. Maritime training provider Red Ensign and apprenticeship specialist HTP Training are also assisting the vessel operator in the recruitment effort.

Seacat, which operates seven offshore wind vessels between 21 and 26 meters, says it received more than 200 apprentice applications.
