As part of recent agreements to acquire up to 960 MW of renewable energy, Southern California Edison (SCE) has contracted to increase its proportion of U.S.-based wind power.

SCE's first agreement, with Columbia Energy Partners, is for 40 MW of wind from a plant in central Oregon. This agreement, the utility says, is expandable to 104 MW. SCE has also signed an agreement with BP Wind Energy and Ridgeline Energy LLC for 90 MW of wind power, expandable to 130 MW, in southeast Idaho.

Both power contracts are scheduled to come online in the fourth quarter of 2010, the utility notes.
