SC Johnson Honored With Sustainability Award

Add SC Johnson to the growing list of corporations that are using on-site wind generation to power their facilities while reducing their carbon footprint.

This year, the company, which makes household products such as Windex, Glade, Pledge and Raid, commissioned two 415-foot wind turbines at Waxdale, its Mt. Pleasant, Wis.-based global manufacturing plant.

The turbines will generate approximately eight million kWh of electricity per year – the equivalent of powering more than 700 homes annually. The turbines, combined with the site's two existing co-generation units, will result in Waxdale being able to produce an average of 100% of its electrical energy on-site. SC Johnson is committed to a goal of increasing renewable energy uage to 33% of total electricity by 2016.Â

Recently, SC Johnson's sustainability program was honored for its commitment to renewable energy by 2degrees, which calls itself ‘the world's leading community for sustainable business, working together to drive efficiency and growth through being more sustainable.’
