The REpower 6M turbines are intended for the Innogy Nordsee 1 wind farm, which is expected to have a total capacity of 332 MW and will be built in the German North Sea, around 40 km north of the Island of Juist.
The REpower 6M turbines will be produced in Bremerhaven, Germany. From there, the components will be transported directly to their destination on the high seas. In 2009, three prototypes of the REpower 6M were installed onshore at the Ellhoft wind farm, near the German-Danish border, and this spring, the first 6M turbines installed offshore were erected at the Belgian Thornton Bank wind project.
Each of the 6.15 MW wind turbines can supply more than 6,000 households with electricity, and the Innogy Nordsee 1 wind farm will provide power to at least 324,000 households, REpower says.
