RPM Access, an independent developer, owner and operator of wind projects, says it has executed two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) for its 36 MW Hawkeye and 50 MW Rippey wind projects.

The Hawkeye project is located in Fayette County, Iowa, and the Rippey project is sited in Greene County, Iowa. Both projects will start construction by the end of this year in order establish commercial operation in fall 2012. The PPA counterparties will identify themselves this fall, RPM Access says.

The company also notes that it has signed five interconnection agreements with the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator and the Southwest Power Pool that will enable RPM Access to interconnect 450 MW of wind power capacity by the end of next year.

"Having an interconnection agreement in place that doesn't require transmission-line upgrades is key to meeting the federal tax-credit deadlines that are creeping up on the wind industry, and we're pleased it has all worked out with the various transmission owners and operators to make sure all five interconnection facilities are built on time," says Stephen Dryden, principal of RPM Access.
