REpower Systems AG has signed a framework contract with EDF Energies Nouvelles and RES Canada for the supply of up to 954 MW for wind farm projects across Quebec.

The projects are being led by Saint-Laurent Energies, a Montreal-based wind energy company jointly owned by EEN Canada, RES Canada and Hydromega Services Inc.

The contract guarantees a minimum purchase capacity of 748 MW.

In accordance with provincial rules, REpower says at least 60% of the investment will be made in Quebec, and 30% will be for local manufacturing of rotor blades, towers and electrical converters. As such, REpower has already signed contracts with suppliers in the Gaspesie and Matane regions of Quebec.

REpower, which will supply up to 477 MM82/92 turbines between 2011 and 2015, is also responsible for commissioning the turbines.
