Fluor Corp. has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Plains and Eastern Clean Line LLC to provide development support, as well as preliminary engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the proposed Plains & Eastern Clean Line project.

As part of the MOU, Fluor – along with Pike Electric Corp., which will serve as a subcontractor to Fluor – will provide the initial permitting and development support services for the project. After the project has received all permits and regulatory and financial approvals, Fluor and Pike will provide the full EPC services for the transmission-line project.

The Plains & Eastern Clean Line will consist of approximately 800 miles of overhead HVDC transmission lines that will deliver 3.5 GW of power – much of which will be wind energy – from Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas to the southeastern U.S. The project is expected to take several years to fully permit.
