PPM Energy, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, recently commissioned its Big Horn wind farm in Klickitat County, Wash.

Located approximately 25 miles from PPM Energy's Klondike Wind Power Project, Big Horn generates a capacity of 200 MW of electricity and uses 133 GE Energy 1.5 MW turbines, the company says. The electricity from the wind farm is sold to M-S-R Public Power Agency, a joint power authority organized by the Modesto Irrigation District, Silicon Valley Power and the city of Redding.

While constructing the project, PPM employed up to 200 people – a big economic impact on a town with a population that hovers around 90, the company adds.
