Power Company Of Wyoming To Hold Informational Sessions On Proposed 3 GW Wind Project

Power Company of Wyoming (PCW) is pursuing a permit from the Wyoming Industrial Siting Division (ISD) to construct, operate and decommission the proposed Chokecherry and Sierra Madre Wind Energy Project, which could have a capacity of up to 3 GW.

In July, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management released the final environmental impact statement for the project, which is proposed for Carbon County, Wyo., and this is the next stage in the development process, PCW notes.

In connection with this process, the ISD has identified a geographical area called the "study area," which includes local governments in the vicinity of the project (i.e., Carbon County, Sweetwater County, Albany County and Natrona County). PCW has scheduled seven additional meetings to provide local governments and the public in the study area with further opportunities to obtain more information about the wind project, ask questions and provide comments for PCW's consideration.

PCW will host two community open houses in Carbon County on Sept. 18 in Rawlins at The Depot, and on Sept. 19 in Saratoga at the Platte Valley Community Center. Both events will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
