Pentalum Technologies Receives Funding From GE Ventures

Thanks to an undisclosed investment from GE Ventures, Israel-based Pentalum Technologies will get a chance to see if its SpiDAR remote sensing unit has legs.

According to Pentalum, funding will be used in the further development of the SpiDAR, a nacelle-mounted LIDAR system that aids in resource assessment, turbine control and wind forecasting.

Pentalum notes that its LIDAR technology can help wind turbines operate more efficiently while reducing the cost of energy. It optimizes energy capture and mitigates mechanical loading through a laser-based system.
