Citizens for Pennsylvania's Future (PennFuture) President and CEO John Hanger has announced the formation of the Great Green Jobs campaign. Hanger was joined by Department of Environmental Protection's (DEP) Kathleen McGinty, former DEP Secretary Jim Seif, legislators and representatives from the wind and solar industries as well as other businesses, economic development and faith organizations, and environmental groups in launching the campaign.

According to Hanger, the first goal of the campaign is passage of the Energy Conservation Bill – House Bill 2200 (HB 2200) – and the Clean Energy Funding Bill – Special Session House Bill 1 (SHB 1). HB 2200 passed the House in February and SHB 1 passed the House on March 11.

‘The Energy Conservation Bill and the Clean Energy Funding Bill would put thousands of Pennsylvanians to work helping consumers and businesses save energy and money, building new clean power plants, and growing a new green economy,’ says Hanger

Hanger also noted that the campaign has recruited 57 businesses and organizations. The campaign endorsers include the international wind company Iberdrola, solar technologies manufacturer SunEdison, Republicans for Environmental Protection, the Vote Solar Initiative, the Hershey-Harrisburg Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility and the Pennsylvania Council of Churches.
