Chaska, Minn.-based Outland Renewable Energy has signed a reservation agreement with Siemens PG to supply 200 MW of Siemens' 2.3 MW wind turbines. The turbines are for a greenfield project being developed by Outland in Iowa known as ORE I Wind Farm. The first phase of the project is expected to enter commercial operation in 2010.
‘Iowa is one of the leading states promoting wind energy, and we are pleased that Outland has chosen our 2.3 MW wind turbines for their ORE I wind farm,’ says Randy Zwirn, president and CEO of Siemens PG and member of the PG group executive committee. ‘The growing energy demand in the U.S. requires a mix of diverse electricity-generating solutions, and this wind farm will contribute to Iowa's clean energy needs.’
Siemens opened a wind turbine blade manufacturing facility in Iowa in September.
