The Ontario Ministry of Environment has issued Dufferin Wind Power (DWP) a renewable energy approval (REA) for the developer's proposed 100 MW wind project, to be located in Melancthon.
According to a report in the Orangeville Citizen, the REA includes all wind farm construction, as well as a proposed 230 kV transmission line. The latter is still subject to Ontario Energy Board approval. A DWP spokesperson told the news agency that the developer expects a final ruling on the line project within a few weeks.
The report also notes that the REA could face a review by the Environmental Review Tribunal if opponents seek one during the 15-day appeal period.
