EverPower Renewables, a utility-scale wind project developer, has reached an agreement with Steuben Rural Electric Cooperative, the largest rural electric cooperative in the state of New York, to supply a portion of the future incremental power needs to the utility.

Under the agreement, the 62.5 MW Howard Wind Project will provide Steuben Rural Electric with a fixed-price 10-year power contract for electricity generated from the facility, which is to be constructed in Steuben County, N.Y., the companies say.

‘EverPower places a high importance on community involvement in all of our projects,’ says Kevin Sheen, manager of the Howard Wind Project. ‘The Howard Wind Project will provide benefits to the community in the form of tax payments to the schools, town and county, royalty payments to landowners, and construction and maintenance jobs.’

The Howard Wind Project is located in the town of Howard, about 35 miles northwest of Corning, N.Y. The Steuben County Industrial Development Authority is acting as the lead agent for the State Environmental Quality Review process, and New York-based EverPower is working to complete the final requirements of the review process.
