NRG Bluewater Officially Ends Contract For Delaware Offshore Wind Project

NRG Bluewater Wind has officially terminated its power purchase agreement with Delmarva Power & Light for a 200 MW offshore wind project off the coast of Delaware.

The company announced earlier this month that it would likely halt development of the project if an investment partner was not found by Dec. 23.

‘We've continued to hold discussions with several potential buyers and investors but haven't yet concluded a deal,’ says NRG Bluewater spokesperson David Gaier. ‘As a result, we notified Delmarva Power & Light that we're terminating the 200 MW power purchase agreement, effective at year-end.’

Gaier says the company will continue to maintain its offshore wind assets and will work with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management on a lease for the offshore project, as well as continue to seek a buyer.
